From the past few days, the internet is filled with outrage over the alleged murder of a 17 years old Dalit boy who, as per a section of news portals, was shot dead for trying to enter a temple. Reportedly, the deceased was denied permission to enter the holy place and as soon as he started arguing with the accused, he was shot to death. However, an account on Twitter that goes by the name of Political Kida, claimed that the victim died over debt dispute and not because of his caste. Reacting to the same, Raveena Tandon expressed her concern over what to believe.
The video sees a police officer issuing clarification over the peddling of fake news over the youth's death and how he or his family never came across any discrimination on the basis of their caste. The user's tweet read, "Media is giving fake caste angle to murder of a Dalit Youth when Police has clearly said that it was due to fight over debt of ₹5k. As per news reports even the deceased's father has said that they have never been discriminated on caste basis in the village."
Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon quote-retweeted the same and urged for peace, "Don’t know what news to believe these days. I believe-bring down ALL symbols of slavery, racism, oppression, terrorism, war. (Not selective). May the world see peace and love. Put them all in a museum, teach the generations ahead what NOT to become. Teach them. One religion Only Humanity."
